The Mandatory 4 Day Hold
November 10, 2004 The Honorable Gary T. Friedman of the Kern County Superior Court ordered: 1. The County of Kern is prohibited from euthanizing any cats, feral or otherwise, for four days not counting the day of impoundment, persuant to the strictures of Food and Agricultural Code section 31752.5, except as provided under Food and Agricultural Code section 17006. 2. The County of Kern is prohibited from euthanizing any owner-relinquished animal for four full days not counting the day of impoundment, perusant to the strictures of Food and Agricultural Code section 31754 and is prohibited from euthanizing any owner-relinquished animal upon request of its purported owner until the four day holding period has lapsed, except upon receiving documentation as provided in the Food and Agricultural Code 31108.5(b) or except as provided under Food and Agricultural Code 17006.
